Got an impossible part
for your CMM to inspect?
No Problem.
We’ve seen it all.
Our engineers design custom CMM and vision fixtures for complex geometries, inaccessible features, and high-volume production runs that off-the-shelf tooling can’t accommodate. 500+ fixtures deployed across aerospace, medical device, defense, and industrial manufacturers throughout North America. Large program or small lot — we scope it in one discovery meeting.
How? A 90% reduction in CMM cycle time per part — achieved through multi-up fixture design — means you’re running the same volume in one-tenth the machine time. That’s the math behind the 10X. Deployed at Boeing, SpaceX, and high-volume medical device manufacturers across the US.
Final engineering and fixturing vary by customer. Costs dependent on part complexity and size · Concept design deposit required.

When an Off-the-Shelf Product Isn’t Enough
Our standard Inspection Arsenal® fixtures are engineered to be versatile. But as inspection volumes reach production levels and geometries and hold points become more complex, the limits of off-the-shelf tooling are reached — that’s exactly where our custom engineering team steps in.
Reach Previously Inaccessible Features
Complex geometries, deep bores, undercuts, and compound angles that standard workholding can’t address — our custom designs provide repeatable, artifact-free probe access to the features that matter most.
Multiply Throughput at High Volume
Multi-up fixture designs let you load dozens of parts simultaneously — cutting CMM program cycle time per part by up to 90%. A 90% reduction is a 10X throughput multiplier. Purpose-built fixturing delivers the single highest ROI for high-volume inspection operations.
Built on the Loc-N-Load™ Platform
Every custom fixture Phillips Precision designs leverages the proven Loc-N-Load™ and Open-Sight™ quick-swap system — custom precision with rapid changeover, protecting your existing tooling investment.

Hundreds of Custom Fixtures
Deployed Across the US
From 288-up high-volume production fixtures to precision robotics-integrated systems, our engineering team has solved inspection challenges in every major manufacturing vertical.

Outcome: 288 parts per CMM load cycle — cycle time per part reduced by 94%.

Outcome: Cobot-integrated Loc-N-Load™ platform enabled lights-out inspection.

Outcome: Sub-0.001″ setup repeatability — audit-ready from first run.

Outcome: Single modular fixture handles all 6 variants — one PO, one delivery.

Outcome: Pneumatic actuation eliminated operator variation — gage R&R improved 3x.
From Discovery to Concept
in as Few as 1–2 Weeks
Our structured four-phase process minimizes risk and protects your IP. Discovery through concept commitment typically takes 1–2 weeks. Final manufacturing lead time begins upon customer design approval and will vary based on fixture size and complexity.
Project Initiation
NDA execution, CAD data submission (.STEP + PDF drawings), and a Discovery Meeting with our Applications Specialist to define scope, constraints, and requirements.
Concept Commitment
Design conception deposit proposal based on complexity. PO issued, followed by a Preliminary Design Review meeting to present initial fixture concepts.
Design Finalization
Review feedback incorporated, design frozen, final proposal issued. Customer provides written approval to proceed to manufacturing.
Production Execution
Lead time starts from written approval. Internal final review, engineering drawings generated, manufacturing commences, fixture ships per quoted timeline.
