Design Process

Phase 1

Project Initiation

NDA (if applicable)
A non-disclosure agreement should be in place before sharing any proprietary information.

Provide CAD Data
Supply CAD model(s) in .STP format (preferred) along with PDF drawing(s) to Phillips Precision.

Discovery Meeting
A meeting will be scheduled to review the project scope and gather detailed fixture requirements.

Phase 2

Concept Commitment

Design Conception Deposit Proposal
Based on the information gathered, Phillips Precision will issue a proposal for the design conception deposit. This cost varies depending on fixture geometry, size, and complexity, and will be credited toward the final project cost.

Deposit & Purchase Order
A purchase order (P.O.) for the design conception deposit is required to begin any design or engineering work.

Preliminary Design Review
A review meeting will be scheduled to present the preliminary design(s).

Phase 3

Design Finalization

Final Design Adjustments
Feedback from the design review will be incorporated. At this point, the design will be frozen in preparation for the final proposal.

Final Proposal
A detailed proposal is generated and provided to the customer.

Customer Purchase Order for Final Build
Upon receipt of the P.O., Phillips Precision will provide a CAD link for the customer’s internal review.

Customer Approval for Manufacturing
The customer must provide written approval (via email) to proceed with manufacturing. Any change requests or new requirements at this point will be considered outside the original scope and billed at the current engineering hourly rate.

Phase 4

Production Execution

Production Timeline Begins
The quoted shipping lead time starts from the time the customer provided design approval.

Internal Final Review
Once customer approval is received, Phillips Precision will conduct a final internal review.

Manufacturing Phase
Final drawings are generated, and the project moves into manufacturing.

NDA Instructions

A non-disclosure agreement is required for all first-time custom design customers and distributors. 

Please download and sign the NDA. Upload the signed NDA along with your CAD models and PDF Drawings/Prints.

Upon receiving your request, we will sign and date our portion and provide you with a completed copy for your records.
